The past, present and future according to Rangor.

Everything that has, is, or is going to happen (although not necessarily in that order).

Christmas feelings

Now, you all know that I don't like Christmas, I find it the most false, overstated affair in the calendar, I agree completely with this blog entry I came across and I could easily add another ten to the list...

Mrs Rangor has been secretly purchasing Xmas decorations (Xmas is better, the date has sod all to do with Christ anyway, let's cross him out, after all, he never actually existed did he, I've been back to have a look). Anyway, these decorations are tacky and gaudy and are what I can only think of as completely chavvy.

Rangor Towers will see some kind of celebration late this year or early next. I for one would rather it be the birth of Rangote during that 'festive' season (before anyone thinks I'm suggesting something about a second coming, no, I'm not comparing Rangote to that Jesus H Corbett fella although three Kings turning up with some gold, frankenstein and mirth could be fun).

Anyway, here's the 'however'...

I am well aware that children love Christmas and that I am very soon to become a parent and therefore will have certain responsibilities that I have never before had. One of these is to ensure my child is the happiest and healthiest child in the whole wide world. If a tiny tiny part of those reponsibilities involves me celebrating Christmas and as such, receiving smiles and hugs from my child as they grow up, then I think it's a small sacrifice on my part.

So ultimately, I'm sure from NEXT year onwards until my child (hopefully) decides that Xmas is as crap as his/her old man thinks it is, Mrs Rangor and I will be 'doing' Christmas just like the rest of you...

The Weaver's last day

Today is a big day for The Weaver. It is his last day at the horrid horrid school he currently works in. No more nasty teenagers pushing him down the stairs! He's off to a better place with better kids and no scummy tosspots! Good for you Weaver

Four years ago today

Was 4 years ago that my friend Jez took his own life. Doesn't seem that long ago, and I do still wonder about him from time to time. Occasionally I find myself listening to an old demo tape of the 'Fly Kicking Badgers'. He was the lead singer under the sobriquet of 'Gilbert Gibb, the fifth Bee Gee' along with the other band members, Chuck up, RudeBeat, Onion Bhagee and Seedy Dave Blair. Memorable songs include 'Not this plonker', 'I'm a badger in love', 'Only sixteen' and 'pickled onions'. Classic stuff and someone I will miss for an awfully long time.

Is your browser compliant?

Something that is probably more at home on Stuart's blog, but thought I'd link to it from here.
